Mahindra Thar Roxx Star Edition Reaches Dealerships Ahead of Official Launch

Mahindra is preparing to expand its five-door SUV portfolio with the introduction of the Thar Roxx Star Edition. Following a series of brand teasers, production-ready units have been observed at dealership stockyards, suggesting a market launch is imminent. This new variant serves as a cosmetic enhancement of the existing lineup, focusing on a darkened aesthetic rather than mechanical revisions.

Interior Revisions and Trim Details

The Star Edition is based on the range-topping AX7 L trim, inheriting its comprehensive equipment list while debuting a revised cabin theme. While the standard Roxx offers Ivory White and Mocha Brown interiors, the Star Edition adopts a more somber palette. Key interior features include:

  • Black leatherette seat upholstery.
  • A darkened dashboard and revised interior trim accents.
  • A contrast-heavy cabin environment that retains the beige roof liner and portions of the beige door panels.

This approach provides a visual distinction from the standard model without moving to a completely monochromatic black interior, maintaining a level of perceived cabin airiness.

Exterior Styling and Visual Updates

The exterior of the Thar Roxx Star Edition is defined by an extensive black-out treatment designed to offer a more aggressive stance. The most significant change is the fitment of all-black alloy wheels, which replace the dual-tone units found on the standard AX7 L. When paired with the Stealth Black exterior paint, the vehicle takes on a uniform, stealthy appearance. Core design elements, including the front grille, lighting signatures, and body panels, remain identical to the standard production models.

Powertrain and Performance

In line with Mahindra’s strategy for lifestyle special editions, the Star Edition introduces no mechanical changes. The SUV will continue to be powered by the existing engine family:

  • 2.0-liter Turbo Petrol: Providing high-output performance for urban and off-road applications.
  • 2.2-liter Diesel: The mHawk engine remains available for those prioritizing torque and long-distance efficiency.

Both engines are expected to be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, depending on the specific drivetrain configuration selected by the buyer.

Market Positioning and Availability

The Star Edition follows in the footsteps of previous Mahindra special releases, such as the Earth Edition, aimed at maintaining consumer momentum through the product lifecycle. By offering a factory-customized look, Mahindra targets buyers who would otherwise seek aftermarket de-chroming services. Positioned as a premium alternative to the AX7 L, the Star Edition is expected to command a slight price increase over the standard trim. Final pricing and delivery schedules are anticipated to be announced in the final week of January.
