The upcoming iteration is poised to introduce the brand’s proprietary series-hybrid powertrain, alongside an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Proprietary Series-Hybrid Powertrain
Maruti Suzuki is reportedly developing a bespoke strong hybrid system, codenamed HEV, which is expected to debut with the Fronx by 2027. Unlike the Atkinson-cycle systems currently sourced from Toyota, this configuration utilizes the 1.2-liter Z12 three-cylinder petrol engine as a generator to charge a 1.5kWh to 2kWh battery pack, which then powers an electric motor. Drivetrain and Mechanical Enhancements
Spy photographs have identified a revised rear axle assembly, indicating the inclusion of an AWD system. While the Fronx is already available with AWD in international markets like Japan and Europe, its introduction in India would likely mirror the AllGrip Select system found in the Grand Vitara. Key characteristics of this mechanical update include:
