Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Scheduled for Market Launch in February

Maruti Suzuki is set to broaden its portfolio with the introduction of the e Vitara, the company’s inaugural all-electric SUV. Following its late 2025 unveiling, the model is scheduled for an official market launch this month. The vehicle will be distributed through the Nexa premium dealership network, marking a significant pivot toward electrification for the manufacturer.

Powertrain and Battery Configurations

The e Vitara will be available with two distinct battery options designed to meet varying range requirements. The Delta variant features a 49kWh battery, while the Zeta and Alpha trims are equipped with a higher-capacity 61kWh unit. Under optimal conditions, the SUV delivers a claimed driving range of up to 543km. This powertrain setup positions the e Vitara as a long-distance capable option in the burgeoning mid-size EV space.

Safety Ratings and Technology

In recent safety evaluations, the e Vitara earned a five-star rating from Bharat NCAP, highlighting its structural integrity. Furthermore, it is the second vehicle in the brand’s history to offer an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. Key specifications include:

  • Battery Packs: 49kWh (Delta) and 61kWh (Zeta, Alpha).
  • Maximum Range: 543km on a single charge.
  • Safety: 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating.
  • Technology: Integrated ADAS suite.

Market Position and Rivals

Pricing for the e Vitara will be announced shortly, followed by the commencement of nationwide test drives. The SUV enters a highly competitive segment, where it will challenge the Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV, and the Mahindra BE 6. Additionally, it will face upcoming competition from the Hyundai Creta Electric and the VinFast VF 6. The commercial performance of this first EV venture will likely hinge on the manufacturer’s ability to balance premium features with competitive pricing.
