- SUV models (Creta, Venue, Exter) account for nearly 70% of total sales
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) ended December 2025 with stable domestic sales, reflecting steady demand amid an increasingly competitive passenger vehicle market. The company reported 42,416 units sold during the month, broadly in line with its December 2024 performance, indicating a flat year-on-year trend.
SUVs once again formed the backbone of Hyundai’s sales, with the Creta, Venue and Exter emerging as the brand’s highest-selling models.
Hyundai Creta Tops December 2025 Sales
The Hyundai Creta, including its electric version, retained its position as the company’s best-selling model in December 2025. Hyundai dispatched 13,154 units of the Creta during the month.
On a year-on-year basis, Creta sales grew by around 4 percent, underlining its strong foothold in the midsize SUV segment. However, month-on-month volumes declined, largely due to seasonal softness typically seen toward the end of the calendar year.
Hyundai Venue Continues Strong Run
The Hyundai Venue remained the second-highest contributor to Hyundai’s monthly volumes. The compact SUV recorded 10,322 units sold in December 2025.
Venue sales were largely stable compared to the same period last year, supported by sustained interest in the recently updated generation. Month-on-month figures dipped slightly, in line with the broader market slowdown during December.
Hyundai Exter Maintains Growth Momentum
The Hyundai Exter compact SUV posted 5,612 units in December 2025. The model registered a year-on-year increase of approximately 6 percent, highlighting consistent demand in the entry-level SUV segment.
Despite positive annual growth, Exter also saw a marginal month-on-month decline, reflecting cautious buyer sentiment at year-end.
Aura Posts Strong YoY Growth; Hatchbacks Under Pressure
Among Hyundai’s sedan and hatchback portfolio, the Hyundai Aura stood out with 4,925 units sold, marking a strong year-on-year growth of about 28 percent. However, the model experienced a noticeable drop compared to November 2025.
In contrast, hatchbacks such as the Grand i10 Nios and i20 continued to face pressure. The Grand i10 recorded 4,010 units, while the i20 registered 3,339 units, both showing declines on year-on-year and month-on-month bases as customer preference continues to shift toward SUVs.
Alcazar, Verna and Tucson See Lower Volumes
The Hyundai Alcazar and Verna remained among the slower-moving models in the portfolio, with 579 units and 406 units sold respectively. Both models reported sharp year-on-year declines, mirroring the broader industry trend of weakening demand for larger sedans and premium MPVs.
The Hyundai Tucson did not record any sales in December 2025.
Electric Vehicles: Ioniq 5 Shows Growth
Hyundai’s premium electric offering, the Ioniq 5, registered 69 units in December 2025. While volumes remain niche, the model delivered a significant year-on-year growth, indicating rising interest in premium EVs among early adopters.

Overall Outlook
Despite flat domestic sales in December, Hyundai maintained its strong position in the Indian market, driven primarily by its SUV-heavy portfolio. Exports continued to support overall volumes, aligning with Hyundai’s long-term global manufacturing strategy from India.
Looking ahead to 2026, Hyundai is expected to focus on new launches, facelifts and expanded electric offerings, aimed at strengthening its presence across key segments and improving growth momentum in the domestic market.
