Bentley Unveils Performance-Oriented Continental GT S and GTC S Hybrid Models

Bentley has introduced the latest iterations of its Continental GT S and GTC S, positioning the new variants as driver-focused alternatives within the grand tourer range. The updated models transition to a V8 petrol-hybrid architecture, delivering significant performance gains over their predecessors while incorporating advanced chassis technologies intended to sharpen handling characteristics.

Powertrain and Performance Metrics

At the core of the GT S and GTC S is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol-hybrid engine. This system produces a combined output of 680hp and 930Nm of torque, representing an increase of 130hp and 160Nm compared to the outgoing generation. The powertrain allows both the coupe and convertible to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.5 seconds, with a maximum speed rated at 306 km/h. Additionally, the onboard battery enables an electric-only driving range of up to 80km.

Technical Enhancements and Chassis

To differentiate the “S” models from the standard Continental GT, Bentley has integrated several mechanical upgrades designed to improve agility:

  • All-Wheel Steering: Included for the first time on these specific variants to enhance low-speed maneuverability and high-speed stability.
  • Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (e-LSD): Managed electronically to optimize traction across the rear axle.
  • Performance Active Chassis: Features twin-valve dampers, torque vectoring, and revised ESC software.
  • All-Wheel Drive: Standard across both body styles to manage the increased torque output.

Exterior and Interior Design

Visually, the “S” variants maintain the silhouette of the standard Continental GT but offer a more aggressive aesthetic through the optional Blackline specification. This package replaces traditional brightwork with black-finished components, including the front spoiler, grille, mirror caps, and rear diffuser. The 22-inch ten-spoke wheels come in silver as standard, with gloss black or machined finishes available as options. Inside, the cabin features a dual-tone upholstery scheme exclusive to the “S” line, complemented by dark-tinted chrome accents and “S”-branded headrests. Technical amenities include a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and an optional Naim premium audio system.
