BMW India has confirmed that it will expand its luxury SUV lineup with the launch of the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro on February 16, 2026. Local assembly of the new variant will take place at the manufacturer’s Chennai plant, with official pre-bookings scheduled to commence on January 30.
Enhanced Performance and Drivetrain
The upcoming 30 xDrive variant is expected to utilize a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, mirroring the specifications of the international model. Producing 255hp, this powertrain will position the M Sport Pro as the most powerful X3 variant in the current Indian portfolio. Power is delivered to all four wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
In terms of performance, the SUV is capable of reaching 100kph from a standstill in 6 seconds. This marks a notable increase in speed compared to the existing xDrive 20 (190hp) and xDrive 20d (197hp) models, which complete the same sprint in 8.5 seconds and 7.7 seconds, respectively.
M Sport Pro Features and Interior
While the current X3 range already includes M Sport trims, the new ‘Pro’ designation is expected to bring a suite of aesthetic and functional upgrades. Although the full equipment list is yet to be finalized for the Indian market, the variant is anticipated to retain the high-end features found in the current lineup, including:
- Dual-integrated digital displays for infotainment and instrumentation
- Heads-up display (HUD)
- 15-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system
- Panoramic glass sunroof
- Wireless charging pad
Market Position and Competition
The existing BMW X3 range is priced between Rs 72.10 lakh and Rs 73.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Given the higher power output and the addition of the M Sport Pro package, the new 30 xDrive variant is expected to command a price premium. Upon launch, it will continue to compete in the mid-size luxury SUV segment against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
