Hero MotoCorp, a leading two-wheeler manufacturer, has entered a strategic partnership with Valeo, a French automotive technology supplier, to co-develop Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) for motorcycles and scooters. The collaboration aims to integrate intelligent safety technologies across Hero’s entire product portfolio, including both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles, with initial concepts demonstrated at CES 2026.
ARAS Technology Details
The jointly developed ARAS platform will leverage Valeo’s expertise in radar and camera technologies to create a comprehensive safety net for riders. The system is designed to operate effectively in varied lighting conditions, enhancing safety during both daytime and nighttime operation.
- Radar-Based Systems: Forward collision warning, distance monitoring, lane change support, blind spot detection, and rear collision warning.
- Camera-Based Systems: Pedestrian recognition, lane keeping assistance, traffic sign identification, and lane departure alerts.
Implementation and Product Integration
Hero MotoCorp intends to deploy these ARAS features across its complete range of two-wheelers, encompassing both its conventional motorcycle and scooter lineup and its Vida-branded electric mobility products. Proof-of-concept systems have already been successfully developed and showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year.
This move positions Hero MotoCorp to potentially democratize access to advanced safety features, which have historically been limited to higher-end motorcycle models. Recent examples, such as Ultraviolette’s implementation of radar-based collision warning on the X47, indicate a growing trend toward incorporating these technologies into more accessible price segments.
