Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has expanded its premium scooter portfolio with the unveiling of the Dio 125 X-Edition. This new variant, based on the range-topping H-Smart trim, introduces several technological upgrades and a specific aesthetic package aimed at the younger demographic in the 125cc segment.
Technology and Equipment Upgrades
The X-Edition distinguishes itself from the standard Dio 125 through a more advanced feature set. Most notably, the scooter now incorporates a fully digital TFT instrument cluster. This unit provides enhanced data visualization and supports Bluetooth connectivity, enabling turn-by-turn navigation and various connected features. To improve utility, Honda has also integrated a USB Type-C charging port. Other carry-over features from the H-Smart trim include:
- Smart Key system with keyless ignition and locking functions
- Full LED lighting system
- Front disc brake for improved stopping power
- Black-finished alloy wheels
Design and Aesthetic Changes
Visually, the Dio 125 X-Edition adopts a unique dual-tone color scheme titled Pearl Siren Blue and Pearl Deep Ground Gray. The primary dark blue bodywork is contrasted by gray elements on the front apron, floorboard area, side panels, and rear grab rails. For a more aggressive appearance, the scooter features red-painted wheels and updated graphic decals across the bodywork. This variant will sit alongside existing H-Smart colors such as Mat Marvel Blue and Imperial Red.
Engine and Performance
Mechanically, the X-Edition remains identical to the standard 125cc model. It is powered by a 123.92cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC engine. This fuel-injected powerplant produces a peak power output of 8.2 bhp and a maximum torque of 10.5 Nm. The engine is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) designed for urban commuting efficiency.
Market Position and Expected Pricing
While HMSI has not yet released the official price list for the X-Edition, it is expected to be positioned slightly above the current H-Smart variant, which is priced at Rs 91,683 (ex-showroom). The scooter is anticipated to reach dealerships across India in the coming weeks, strengthening Honda’s position against competitors in the sporty 125cc scooter market.
