Kawasaki India has extended its promotional pricing strategy to the middleweight naked segment, offering reduced ex-showroom prices on the Z650 and the neo-retro Z650RS. These adjustments follow similar price reductions recently applied to the brand’s Ninja and Versys lineups. The current offers are restricted to units manufactured in 2025 and will remain in effect until January 31, 2026.
Mechanical Specifications and Performance
Both motorcycles continue to utilize the established 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. This powerplant is distinguished in the current market by its 180-degree firing order, providing a different acoustic and power delivery profile compared to the 270-degree cranks found in newer competitors. Key technical highlights include:
- Peak Power: 68hp
- Maximum Torque: 64Nm
- Fuel Compatibility: Fully E20 compliant
- Transmission: Six-speed gearbox equipped with a slip-and-assist clutch
Revised Pricing Structure
The standard Kawasaki Z650 receives the most significant reduction, with a price drop of Rs 27,000. This brings the entry point for the 650cc naked range to Rs 6.99 lakh. The Z650RS, which features retro-inspired styling, sees a reduction of Rs 20,000, resulting in a revised price of Rs 7.63 lakh. Potential buyers should note that these figures are ex-showroom and stock availability may vary across authorized dealerships.
Market Context
In the current Indian landscape, the Z650 duo occupies a unique niche. While the middleweight category has seen many manufacturers migrate toward larger 750cc to 800cc displacements, Kawasaki remains one of the few brands offering a sub-700cc twin-cylinder platform with a sub-100hp output. This positioning leaves the Z650 with few direct rivals in its specific displacement and price bracket.
