Kia Expands Performance EV Lineup with New GT Variants of EV3, EV4, and EV5

Kia has broadened its high-performance electric vehicle range by debuting GT versions of the EV3, EV4, and EV5 at the Brussels Motor Show. These new variants follow the performance-oriented philosophy established by the EV6 GT and EV9 GT, incorporating dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations and significant mechanical revisions over their standard counterparts.

Powertrain and Performance Dynamics

The EV3 GT crossover and EV4 GT, available in both fastback and hatchback body styles, share a common mechanical architecture. Both utilize an 81.2kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor setup. The front motor contributes 197hp while the rear adds 95hp, resulting in a combined system output of 292hp. Performance benchmarks include:

  • EV3 GT: 0-100kph in 5.7 seconds.
  • EV4 GT: 0-100kph in 5.6 seconds.

To differentiate the driving experience, Kia has integrated a simulated gearshift system, similar to the technology found in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. The chassis has been specifically tuned for these models, featuring electronically adjustable dampers and high-performance tires mounted on 20-inch alloy wheels.

EV5 GT Specifications

The larger EV5 GT SUV receives a power increase to 298hp, which is 83hp more than the standard model. While official battery specifications are pending, the variant is expected to retain the 88.1kWh pack from the long-range model. The EV5 GT completes the 0-100kph sprint in 6.2 seconds. A standout feature is the “road preview system,” which utilizes sensors to adjust the electronic suspension in real-time based on upcoming road conditions and surface irregularities.

Interior and Design Enhancements

Across all three models, the GT branding brings specific cabin updates intended to reflect their performance positioning. Key interior highlights include:

  • Sporty bucket-style seating.
  • A three-spoke steering wheel shared with the EV6 GT.
  • Signature neon-green accents and specialized ambient lighting.
  • A dedicated GT drive mode that recalibrates steering weight, suspension stiffness, and power delivery.

Production Timeline and Market Availability

Manufacturing for the EV3 GT, EV4 GT, and EV5 GT is scheduled to commence in June 2026. While the initial sales focus is directed toward the European market, Kia has not confirmed launch plans for India. However, the manufacturer has recently filed trademarks for several EV nameplates in the Indian market, and the Syros EV is anticipated to arrive in the second quarter of 2026.
