Kia India Surpasses 500,000 Unit Sales for Connected Vehicle Portfolio

Kia India has reached a significant operational milestone, confirming the sale of over 500,000 connected vehicles in the domestic market since its entry in 2019. This achievement coincides with the recent introduction of the second-generation Seltos and underscores the brand’s strategy of integrating advanced telematics across its product lineup. Currently, connected car technology is featured in approximately 40% of Kia’s total domestic wholesale volume.

Product Distribution and Market Penetration

The data indicates that the Seltos mid-size SUV is the primary contributor to this milestone, representing nearly 70% of the half-million connected units sold. The Sonet compact SUV and Carens MPV also contribute significantly to the total. While these services were initially provided as complimentary subscriptions at the time of purchase, Kia reports a high rate of renewal among existing customers, suggesting a sustained reliance on the digital ecosystem for daily commuting.

Key Features of the Kia Connect Suite

The manufacturer’s intelligent mobility platform includes several hardware and software integrations aimed at improving vehicle management and user convenience. Notable features within the current ecosystem include:

  • Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC)
  • Over-the-Air (OTA) updates for system software and plant-level diagnostics
  • Digital Key 2.0 and Multilingual Voice Recognition support
  • Surround View Monitor and remote vehicle health monitoring
  • Specialized EV features including the Drive Green initiative and smart home charger integration

Strategic Outlook

Commenting on the milestone, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, attributed the growth to the brand’s focus on design and technological differentiation. He noted that the high retention rate for the Kia Connect subscription service reflects the long-term utility these features provide to the Indian consumer. The company continues to position itself as a technology-led player in the competitive SUV and MPV segments.
