Mahindra Thar Prices Revised; Base Model Still Starts Under Rs 10 Lakh

Mahindra has implemented a price hike of Rs 20,000 across the majority of the Thar lineup, effective immediately. While the entry-level AXT Diesel 2WD variant continues to be priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), all other iterations of the lifestyle SUV have seen their costs adjusted upward.

The price adjustment applies to both the 2WD and 4WD configurations. Following this revision, the range-topping LXT Diesel 4WD automatic is now priced at Rs 17.19 lakh. The mid-range LXT Petrol 2WD automatic has moved to Rs 14.19 lakh, while the 4WD petrol manual now sits at Rs 14.89 lakh. The price hike is uniform across the LXT trim levels, regardless of the powertrain or drivetrain selected.

Mahindra Thar Mechanical Specifications

The Thar, which received a facelift in 2025, remains mechanically unchanged. It continues to offer three distinct engine choices to cater to different performance requirements:

  • 1.5-litre Diesel: This unit produces 119hp and is paired exclusively with a manual transmission, driving the rear wheels.
  • 2.0-litre Turbo-petrol: This engine generates 152hp and is available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. 4WD is offered as an option.
  • 2.2-litre Diesel: Delivering 132hp, this engine comes with manual or automatic options and features 4WD as standard equipment.

This price revision follows similar moves in the industry during the early part of 2026. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, India.
