Mahindra & Mahindra has initiated a teaser campaign for a new version of the Thar Roxx lifestyle SUV, signaling an upcoming launch in the Indian market. While the manufacturer has not confirmed specific details, the promotional material suggests the introduction of a special edition or a minor mid-cycle refresh characterized by a darker aesthetic theme.
Aesthetic and Exterior Enhancements
The teaser highlights an upright silhouette finished in a deep monochromatic palette. Industry expectations point toward a “Stealth Black” or “Ebony” edition, following the design language previously seen on the XUV700. Key exterior modifications are expected to include:
- Gloss black or matte black paint schemes.
- Redesigned black-alloy wheels.
- Contrasting silver scuff plates on the front and rear bumpers.
- Exclusive badging on the tailgate and front fenders.
Cabin Updates and Technology
Inside, the Thar Roxx is anticipated to maintain its existing dashboard architecture, though color palettes will likely shift to match the exterior. Potential updates include new leatherette upholstery featuring contrast stitching and a revised touchscreen infotainment interface. Mahindra may also introduce minor feature additions to enhance the cabin’s premium feel without altering the core ergonomic layout.
Powertrain and Performance
The mechanical configuration of the SUV is expected to remain consistent with the current lineup. The Thar Roxx will continue to offer two turbocharged engine options:
- 2.0L Turbo Petrol: Producing 160bhp and 330Nm of peak torque.
- 2.2L Turbo Diesel: Developing 150bhp and 330Nm of peak torque.
The vehicle will retain its versatile driving capabilities, featuring three distinct drive modes—Zip, Zap, and Zoom—alongside dedicated terrain modes including Snow, Sand, and Mud to manage off-road conditions.
