Mercedes-Benz India has expanded its domestic manufacturing footprint with the introduction of the locally assembled Maybach GLS 600. Priced at ₹2.75 crore (ex-showroom), the flagship SUV arrives with a price reduction of ₹42 lakh compared to the previous imported version. The Maybach GLS 600 continues to utilize a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, integrated with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This configuration delivers a combined output of 550 BHP, with the electric motor providing a temporary boost of 22 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. Key performance specifications include:

The vehicle is equipped with the Airmatic air suspension as standard, though the more advanced E-Active Body Control system is available as an option. Safety and assistance features include:
- Level 2 ADAS suite

Key Highlights of the Local Transition
The shift to local assembly at the brand’s Chakan facility underscores the growing demand for ultra-luxury vehicles in the Indian market. Key details of the update include:
- Standard Model Price: Rs 2.75 crore
- Price Reduction: Rs 42 lakh compared to the CBU model
- Celebration Edition Price: Rs 4.10 crore

This development follows a broader trend among luxury manufacturers to localize their top-tier offerings to remain competitive in a price-sensitive yet high-growth segment. The Maybach GLS continues to compete with other high-end SUVs, now benefiting from a more aggressive price structure.
Market Position and Sales Performance
The shift to local assembly is a strategic move to improve competitiveness in the ultra-luxury SUV segment. Alongside the launch, Mercedes-Benz India reported its 2025 sales performance, delivering 19,007 units. Despite a marginal decline in volume, the company reported its highest-ever annual revenue. The “Top-End Vehicle” segment, which includes the Maybach range, now accounts for 25 percent of the brand’s total sales volume in India.
