Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has concluded the 2025 calendar year with its highest-ever domestic sales, recording 1,17,000 units. This represents a 36 percent year-on-year increase in volume. When accounting for international shipments, the conglomerate’s total volume reached 1,59,500 units. The year was also marked by a significant manufacturing milestone as the group surpassed the two-million-unit production mark for its Made-in-India program.
The Impact of the Skoda Kylaq
The primary catalyst for the group’s volume expansion was the Skoda Kylaq. As the company’s entry into the sub-four-metre SUV segment, the Kylaq registered over 45,000 units in 2025, accounting for nearly 40 percent of the group’s total domestic sales. This model propelled the Skoda brand to cross the 70,000-unit threshold, reflecting a 107 percent growth rate for the brand within the year.
Platform Strategy and Export Performance
The MQB-A0-IN platform remains the foundation for the group’s localized product strategy. Key highlights from the manufacturing and export sectors include:
- Cumulative exports have now exceeded 7,15,000 units.
- Production reached a milestone of 2 million vehicles under the India-specific manufacturing initiative.
- The retail and service infrastructure has expanded to 700 touchpoints nationwide.
Segment Leadership and Niche Models
Beyond the high-volume SUV segment, the Volkswagen Virtus maintained its position as the leader in the midsize sedan category, capturing a 38 percent market share. The group also saw immediate demand for its enthusiast-oriented models, with the Skoda Octavia RS and Volkswagen Golf GTI selling out shortly after their respective launches. Other models, including the Slavia, Kushaq, and Taigun, continued to provide steady volume support.
