Tata Motors to Unveil 2026 Punch Facelift on January 13

tata punch facelift 2026

Tata Motors has confirmed that the facelifted version of the Punch sub-compact crossover will be officially unveiled on January 13, 2026. The update introduces several mechanical and technological changes aimed at maintaining the model’s position against competitors such as the Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Citroen C3.

Mechanical Updates and Powertrain

The most notable change in the 2026 lineup is the addition of a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine. This motor, likely sourced from the Altroz Racer or Nexon, is expected to produce approximately 110PS of power and 140Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The existing 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine will continue to be offered. This unit produces 87.8PS and 115Nm of torque and will remain available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

Design and Exterior Changes

The exterior of the 2026 Punch adopts design elements previously seen on the Punch EV. The front fascia features a revised bumper with a blacked-out finish, vertically stacked trapezoidal headlamp clusters, and redesigned LED DRLs. While the side profile remains largely consistent with the outgoing model, it receives new alloy wheel designs. The rear includes a revised bumper and updated LED detailing within the taillamps.

Features and Safety Equipment

The facelifted model introduces Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a first for the micro-SUV segment in India. Interior updates include:

  • A new digital instrument cluster and an updated touchscreen infotainment system.
  • A two-spoke steering wheel and a touch-based climate control interface.
  • The inclusion of a 360-degree camera system in higher-spec variants.
  • Updated upholstery and interior trim options.

Market Positioning

The current Tata Punch is priced between ₹5.50 lakh and ₹9.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Industry estimates suggest that the updated model may see a price increase of approximately ₹50,000, with top-end turbocharged and ADAS-equipped variants potentially reaching the ₹11 lakh mark.

The vehicle continues to leverage its safety credentials, having previously secured high ratings in both GNCAP and BNCAP crash tests. Following the unveil on January 13, Tata Motors is expected to announce the final variant-wise pricing and commencement of deliveries.
