Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is prepared to enter the Indian battery electric vehicle market with the official price reveal of the Urban Cruiser EV on January 20, 2026. This midsize SUV marks the Japanese automaker’s first dedicated electric offering in the country, developed through its global partnership with Suzuki.
Powertrain and Performance Metrics
The Urban Cruiser EV shares its mechanical foundation with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It is expected to be available with two distinct lithium-ion battery configurations:
- 49kWh Battery: Aimed at the entry-level variants, paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor.
- 61kWh Battery: Reserved for higher-specification trims to provide extended range.
While final performance specifications are pending, the vehicle is projected to deliver a maximum driving range exceeding 540km on a full charge, positioning it competitively within the midsize SUV segment.
