TVS Motor Company emerged as the volume leader in India’s two-wheeler industry for December 2025, surpassing both Hero MotoCorp and Honda in total consolidated sales. The achievement follows a period of aggressive year-on-year growth for the manufacturer, supported by a balanced performance across domestic and international markets. While the industry at large recorded a 36.25% year-on-year (YoY) increase with 1,899,891 total units sold, the sector faced a sharp month-on-month (MoM) decline of 17.26% compared to November 2025.
Consolidated Sales Performance
The total market volume of 1.89 million units for the month reflects a substantial gain of over 500,000 units compared to December 2024. TVS Motor led the group with 461,071 units, followed closely by Hero MotoCorp and Honda. The overall ranking for total volumes (Domestic + Exports) is as follows:
- TVS Motor: 461,071 units
- Hero MotoCorp: 456,479 units
- Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India: 446,048 units
- Bajaj Auto: 310,353 units
- Suzuki Motorcycle India: 122,366 units
- Royal Enfield: 103,574 units
Domestic Market Trends
In the domestic segment, total sales reached 1,465,139 units, marking a 38.72% YoY improvement. However, high inventory levels or seasonal factors led to a 21.19% MoM contraction. Hero MotoCorp maintained its dominance in the local market with 419,243 units, capturing a 28.61% market share among the top six manufacturers. Honda followed in second place with 392,306 units, supported by steady demand for the Activa and Shine series. TVS Motor recorded the highest YoY domestic growth at 53.60%, finishing the month with 330,362 units. Conversely, Bajaj Auto saw a modest 3.03% YoY growth in domestic sales, totaling 132,228 units.
Export Market Highlights
The export sector showed resilience with a 28.54% YoY increase, totaling 434,752 units. Unlike the domestic market, MoM export figures remained relatively stable with only a marginal 0.54% dip. Bajaj Auto continues to be the primary exporter, shipping 178,125 units and securing nearly 41% of the export share. TVS Motor also posted strong international figures with 130,709 units, a 34.85% YoY increase. Honda and Hero MotoCorp exported 53,742 and 37,236 units respectively, while Suzuki and Royal Enfield rounded out the list with 24,543 and 10,397 units.
Summary of Manufacturer Growth
Despite the month-on-month cooling typical of the year-end period, all six major OEMs reported double-digit YoY growth. Suzuki and Royal Enfield were notable for maintaining positive momentum in both YoY and MoM domestic metrics, whereas the larger volume players saw their domestic numbers retreat from November highs. The shift in the top spot highlights the increasing competitiveness of TVS Motor’s product portfolio, particularly the Raider and Apache series, in the face of established market leaders.
