In a major boost to its premium electric vehicle credentials, the VinFast VF7 has officially secured a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP (BNCAP). Following closely on the heels of the VF6’s results, the VF7 outperformed its stablemate in adult protection, cementing its position as one of the safest mid-size electric SUVs available in the Indian market.
The VF7, which serves as VinFast’s more performance-oriented offering, was tested across its Earth, Wind, and Sky variants. The results confirm that the vehicle meets the highest safety standards for both adult and child occupants under the stringent BNCAP protocols.
Performance in Crash Tests

The Bharat NCAP report highlighted the VF7’s superior structural rigidity. With a crash test weight of 2,493 kg, the SUV demonstrated exceptional energy absorption during frontal and side-impact tests.
The VF7 achieved near-perfect scores in the Side Impact and Side Pole Impact tests, with BNCAP noting “Good” protection for the head, chest, and abdomen of the occupants. The child safety score was particularly notable, aided by the standard inclusion of ISOFIX mounts and the vehicle’s ability to accommodate various child restraint systems (CRS).

Standard Safety Suite

The 5-star rating is supported by a comprehensive list of active and passive safety features that VinFast provides as standard equipment across the VF7 lineup:
- Airbag System: Six airbags as standard, including front, side, and curtain airbags.
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC): Fully compliant with UN GTR No. 8/UNECE R140 standards.
- Pedestrian Protection: Optimized front-end design to minimize injury to vulnerable road users.
- Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS): Level 2 ADAS features including Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Warning.
Market Position and Pricing
The VF7 is currently priced between ₹20.89 lakh and ₹25.49 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. While its 5-star rating puts it in direct competition with the Tata Curvv EV and the MG ZS EV, the VF7 differentiates itself with its higher-output dual-motor AWD variants (Sky and Sky Infinity), which produce up to 348 PS.
Industry experts believe that the 5-star BNCAP certification will be a key differentiator for VinFast as a newcomer.
As Indian consumers increasingly prioritize safety alongside range and performance, the VF7’s high scores in child occupant protection may specifically appeal to family-oriented buyers in the premium EV segment.
