Volvo has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the global reveal of the EX60, a midsize SUV that introduces the company’s next-generation SPA3 architecture. Positioned to sit alongside the internal combustion engine (ICE) XC60, the new model will initially launch in European markets before heading to the United States.
Volvo EX60 Powertrain and Charging Capabilities

The EX60 will be available in three distinct performance tiers, catering to different range and power requirements:
- P6 Electric: Features an 83kWh battery and a rear-mounted motor producing 374 HP and 480 Nm of torque. It offers a WLTP range of up to 620 km.
- P10 AWD: Utilizes a 95kWh battery and a dual-motor setup generating 510 HP and 710 Nm. The estimated range is 660 km.
- P12 AWD: The flagship variant employs a 117kWh pack, delivering 680 HP and 790 Nm. This configuration achieves the maximum WLTP range of 810 km.
Charging performance is a highlight of the SPA3 platform, with the EX60 supporting DC fast charging at rates up to 400kW. This allows the battery to replenish from 10 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes. For home or destination charging, the vehicle supports 22kW AC input.
Volvp EX60 Design and Exterior Variants
Aesthetically, the EX60 adopts Volvo’s current EV design language, characterized by a smooth, shield-like front fascia and the signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED daytime running lights. The exterior features flush-mounted, illuminated wing-style door handles and wheel options ranging from 20 to 22 inches. Customers can choose between ‘Bright’ chrome-accented or ‘Dark’ blacked-out trim packages.
For those seeking light off-road capability, Volvo is introducing an EX60 Cross Country. This version features a 20mm increase in ground clearance, matte body cladding, stainless steel skid plates, and an exclusive Frost Green paint option. It also includes an adaptive air suspension system with a dedicated off-road driving mode.
Interior Technology and Amenities
The cabin centers on a 15-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen powered by an Android-based operating system with integrated Google Gemini AI assistance. Drivers are provided with an 11.4-inch digital instrument cluster, while physical controls remain on the two-spoke steering wheel. Available premium features include:
- Electrochromic panoramic glass roof
- Climate-controlled seating with reclining rear units
- 21-speaker Bose or 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio systems
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and over-the-air (OTA) update support
The EX60 enters a competitive segment, where it will face rivals such as the BMW iX3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC EV. While Volvo has confirmed the model for Europe and North America, specific plans for other global markets remain unconfirmed.
