Renault is preparing to re-enter the Indian mid-size SUV segment with the next-generation Duster, headlined by a new 160 PS strong-hybrid powertrain. Scheduled for a market arrival around Diwali 2026, this variant follows the initial launch of the turbo-petrol models earlier that year. The move marks a significant step in the Renault International Gameplan 2027, positioning the brand against established hybrid and internal combustion competitors.
Advanced E-Tech Hybrid Powertrain
The flagship powertrain features Renault\’s E-Tech system, utilizing a 1,789 cc four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine developed by Horse Powertrain—a joint venture between Renault and Geely. This internal combustion unit is paired with two electric motors: a 49 hp motor for propulsion and a 20 hp unit acting as a high-voltage starter-generator. Together, the system delivers a combined output of 160 PS and 172 Nm of torque.

Phased Launch and Localized Architecture
Renault has outlined a dual-phase rollout for the SUV. While turbo-petrol variants are expected to reach customers starting in April 2026, the high-efficiency strong-hybrid version is slated for a Diwali 2026 release. The vehicle is built on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), which has been engineered with approximately 90% localized components to meet Indian safety standards and specific climatic requirements.

The next-gen Duster maintains a rugged stance with a ground clearance of 212 mm. Its physical footprint measures 4,346 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, and 1,703 mm in height, supported by a 2,657 mm wheelbase.
