Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Bookings Open Ahead of February 2026 Launch

Volkswagen India has officially commenced the pre-booking phase for its upcoming flagship SUV, the Tayron R-Line. Interested customers can reserve the three-row premium vehicle with a token payment of Rs 51,000 through the company’s digital portal or authorized dealerships. The SUV is scheduled for a formal market entry in February 2026.

Performance and Mechanical Specifications

The Tayron R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 204PS of power and 320Nm of peak torque. This powertrain is mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and utilizes Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. In terms of performance, the SUV achieves a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 224 km/h. Drivers can also toggle between six distinct driving profiles to suit various road conditions.

Standard R-Line Equipment and Interior

In a move to simplify the lineup, Volkswagen will offer the Tayron exclusively in the sporty R-Line trim. This specification includes 19-inch alloy wheels and an illuminated lighting signature for both the front and rear logos. The cabin is centered around a 15-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital cockpit. Key interior highlights include:

  • Three-zone automatic climate control
  • Heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats with memory functions
  • Head-up display and configurable ambient lighting
  • Matrix LED headlights and a powered tailgate

Safety and Exterior Features

The exterior is characterized by 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels and IQ.Light HD Matrix headlamps, complemented by illuminated front and rear Volkswagen logos. Safety equipment is comprehensive, featuring nine airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and hill ascent and descent assist. The vehicle also includes a gesture-controlled tailgate and a panoramic sunroof as standard equipment.

Market Outlook and Pricing

Volkswagen will offer the Tayron in seven paint finishes, including Oyster Silver, Cipression-Green, Ultraviolet, and Oryx White Mother-of-Pearl. Upon its release, the SUV will compete in the premium segment against the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq. Estimated ex-showroom pricing is expected to fall between Rs 48 lakh and Rs 50 lakh.
