Aprilia has restructured the pricing for its mid-capacity 457cc platform, repositioning both the RS 457 supersport and the newly introduced Tuono 457 naked bike. The updated strategy brings the models closer to their initial market positioning, with the Tuono 457 now retailing at a starting price of Rs 3.97 lakh.
Powertrain and Mechanical Specifications
Both motorcycles utilize Aprilia’s 457cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which produces 47.6 hp and 43.5 Nm of peak torque. Power is delivered through a six-speed transmission featuring a standard-fit slipper clutch. To manage the output, the platform employs a ride-by-wire throttle system that facilitates three riding modes: Eco, Sport, and Rain.
Electronics and Standard Features
The 2026 lineup maintains a high level of standard equipment across both body styles. The technical suite includes:
- A 5-inch color TFT display for instrumentation
- Backlit handlebar switches for menu navigation
- Integrated LED lighting throughout
- Switchable traction control
The RS 457 GP Replica remains the flagship of the range, featuring a MotoGP-inspired livery. Beyond aesthetics, this variant includes a bi-directional quickshifter and adjustable brake levers as standard. While the quickshifter can be retrofitted to other variants as a Rs 25,000 accessory, the GP Replica carries a premium of only Rs 15,000 over the standard RS 457, representing a more cost-effective package for those seeking the performance upgrade.
Market Positioning and Competitive Landscape
The Tuono 457, characterized by its upright ergonomics and sharp headlamp cowl, is offered in Piranha Red and Puma Grey. Its current price of Rs 3.97 lakh is a marginal Rs 2,000 increase over its pre-GST reform valuation. Conversely, the RS 457 has seen a significant downward adjustment from the Rs 4.35 lakh price point seen during the recent tax restructuring, making the supersport more accessible to enthusiasts.
In the Indian market, the RS 457 continues to rival the KTM RC 390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 500. The Tuono 457 is positioned to compete directly with the KTM 390 Duke, with further competition expected in the segment from upcoming mid-displacement offerings by BMW, TVS, and Norton.
