VinFast VF5, LimoGreen & VF3 To be Launched in India 2026

VinFast Outlines India Entry for 2026: A Trio of EVs Led by New MPV and VF3

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is accelerating its Indian market strategy, confirming a triple-model launch scheduled for 2026. While initial focus was on its hatchback offerings, the company’s entry will now be led by a specialized three-row electric MPV, followed by the rugged VF3 sub-compact and the practical VF5 hatchback. This multi-segment approach aims to establish VinFast across the family, lifestyle, and entry-level EV categories.

1. The Practical Contender: VinFast VF5

Completing the initial lineup is the VF5, a sub-four-metre hatchback positioned as an entry-level offering that slots below the VF6 SUV. The VF5 will enter a highly competitive segment currently led by the Tata Tiago EV and the Tata Punch EV.

Dimensions and Exterior Design

The VF5 measures 3,967mm in length, 1,723mm in width, and 1,579mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,514mm. While it is 110mm longer than the Tata Punch EV, it is 19mm narrower and 54mm shorter. However, its wheelbase exceeds the Punch EV’s by 69mm, potentially offering more longitudinal cabin space. Exterior highlights include:

  • Signature VinFast wing-shaped front fascia.
  • SUV-inspired black body cladding and flared wheel arches.
  • 16-inch or 17-inch wheel options.
  • A 260-litre boot capacity, expandable to 900 litres.

Powertrain and Battery Options

In international markets, the VF5 is offered with two configurations:

  • Standard: A 29.6kWh battery pack with a 95hp motor (NEDC range: 268km).
  • High-Spec: A 37.23kWh battery with a 136hp motor (NEDC range: 326km).

Both versions utilize a front-mounted electric motor producing 135Nm of torque, providing a balance of efficiency and urban performance.

Interior and Features

The VF5 cabin follows a minimalist philosophy, featuring:

  • An 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
  • Leatherette upholstery and PM2.5 air filtration.
  • Keyless entry, ignition, and comprehensive USB charging ports.

2. Limo Green: Three-Row MPV

Leading the charge in early 2026 will be a three-row electric MPV, currently referred to by its “Limo Green” colorway showcased in recent previews. This model is expected to be VinFast’s primary volume driver for the Indian family segment.

Positioned to challenge the dominance of internal combustion MPVs like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens, the “Limo Green” MPV will emphasize cabin modularity and long-range capabilities. By launching an MPV first, VinFast aims to capitalize on the “white space” in the Indian EV market, which currently lacks affordable seven-seater electric options.

3. VinFast VF3

Following the MPV, VinFast will introduce the VF3, a sub-compact “mini-SUV” that has already gained significant traction in Southeast Asian markets. The VF3 features a boxy, rugged aesthetic reminiscent of a “kei car” SUV, aimed at Gen Z and urban commuters.

With its compact footprint and high ground clearance, the VF3 is designed for easy maneuverability in crowded Indian cities. While specifications for the Indian variant are yet to be finalized, the international model focuses on affordability and essential tech, positioning it as a direct rival to the MG Comet EV and the lower variants of the Tata Tiago EV.

Manufacturing and Pricing Outlook

All three models are expected to be manufactured at VinFast’s upcoming state-of-the-art facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Local production will be critical for VinFast to achieve competitive pricing.

Industry estimates suggest the VF3 could start under Rs 10 lakh, while the VF5 is expected to be priced from approximately Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The “Limo Green” MPV will likely sit in a higher bracket, potentially ranging between Rs 18–25 lakh, depending on battery size and luxury features. By launching these three distinct body styles, VinFast is positioning itself as a comprehensive alternative to market leaders Tata Motors and MG Motor India.
