MG Motor India is set to expand its premium vehicle portfolio with the official launch of the Majestor on February 12, 2026. Positioned as the brand’s new flagship full-size SUV, the Majestor will sit above the current Gloster. The model was previously showcased at the Auto Expo 2025 and has been frequently sighted during road testing across the country.
Powertrain and Performance
Mechanically, the MG Majestor is expected to utilize the 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine currently serving in the Gloster. This unit generates 216hp and 479Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are likely to be handled by an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, sending power to all four wheels via a 4WD system. While the international-spec Maxus D90—on which the Majestor is based—offers a slightly higher torque figure of 500Nm, the India-spec model is anticipated to retain the Gloster’s existing state of tune.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
The Majestor adopts an aggressive aesthetic inspired by the Maxus D90 available in overseas markets. The front fascia is defined by a substantial grille featuring gloss black elements, complemented by vertically stacked LED headlights and slim, high-mounted LED daytime running lights. The SUV’s profile and rear include several distinct design traits:
- 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels similar to the Gloster
- Prominent black wheel arch cladding and roof rails
- Connected LED taillight assembly
- Rear bumper with a faux silver skid plate and integrated dual exhaust outlets
Interior and Technology
While the interior was not fully detailed during its Auto Expo appearance, recent spy photographs indicate a cabin layout mirroring the Maxus D90. The dashboard is expected to house a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster of identical size. A column-mounted drive selector is also anticipated. To distinguish it from the Gloster, the Majestor is likely to offer an enhanced feature list. For context, the current Gloster already provides:
- A panoramic sunroof and three-zone automatic climate control
- A 12-speaker premium audio system
- Heated and powered front seats with a massage function for the driver
- Wireless charging and a powered tailgate
Market Positioning and Competition
The MG Majestor will enter the premium full-size SUV segment, where it will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and the Skoda Kodiaq. In terms of pricing, the Majestor is expected to command a premium over the Gloster, which is currently priced between Rs 38.33 lakh and Rs 42.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
