Skoda has officially named its forthcoming seven-seat electric flagship the Peaq, marking a significant milestone in the Czech manufacturer’s transition toward an expanded EV lineup. The new model, which is slated for a worldwide premiere in the summer of 2026, will serve as the brand’s range-topping battery-electric vehicle (BEV).
Strategic Positioning and Brand Goals
The introduction of the Peaq is a central component of Skoda’s broader electrification strategy. As a member of the Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group CORE, Skoda aims to secure a position among Europe’s top three automotive brands by sales volume by the end of the decade. This growth is supported by a diverse portfolio that includes internal combustion engines, hybrids, and dedicated electric models. In 2024, the company reported global deliveries exceeding 926,000 units across 12 passenger car lines.
Design Evolution from Vision 7S
The Peaq is the production-ready successor to the Vision 7S concept car first showcased in 2022. That concept introduced the “Modern Solid” design language, which emphasizes a robust aesthetic paired with functional efficiency. Key attributes expected to carry over from the concept to the production Peaq include:
- A focus on sustainable interior materials and eco-conscious manufacturing.
- Enhanced spatial efficiency to accommodate seven passengers across three rows.
- Integration of Skoda’s “Simply Clever” practical features designed for family and professional use.
- A minimalist yet tech-focused cabin layout prioritizing ease of use.
Market Outlook and Availability
Positioned to attract large families and buyers requiring a versatile multi-purpose vehicle, the Peaq is designed to bridge the gap between daily commuting and long-distance leisure travel. While the name and conceptual direction have been confirmed, Skoda is withholding specific technical data, including battery capacities, range estimates, and pricing, until the official launch window in mid-2026. The rollout will follow the global premiere, with regional market availability to be finalized at a later date.
