Triumph Unveils Limited Edition Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer

Triumph has expanded its modern classic portfolio with the global reveal of the Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition. This new variant, limited to a production run of just 800 units worldwide, is built upon the high-specification Speed Twin 1200 RS platform. It serves as a spiritual successor to the discontinued Thruxton 1200, adopting a similar silhouette and ergonomic setup.

Design and Ergonomics

The Cafe Racer Edition is distinguished by its specific aesthetic and hardware changes aimed at a vintage racing look. Most notably, the motorcycle features clip-on handlebars to provide a more committed riding position. Visual highlights include a bespoke green and silver dual-tone paint scheme, a color-matched headlight cowl, and a tan leather seat with quilted detailing. To emphasize its exclusivity, each motorcycle will be sold with a certificate of authenticity linked to its specific production number.

Performance and Powertrain

Mechanically, the Cafe Racer Edition remains identical to the Speed Twin 1200 RS. It is powered by a 1,200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that delivers 105hp and 112Nm of peak torque. A key feature carried over from the RS is the bidirectional quickshifter, making this one of the few models in Triumph’s heritage line to offer clutchless shifts in both directions.

  • Engine: 1,200cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder
  • Output: 105hp / 112Nm
  • Gearbox: 6-speed with bidirectional quickshifter
  • Tires: Metzeler Racetec K3 RR

Chassis and Electronics

The motorcycle utilizes a premium hardware suite to ensure handling performance matches its aggressive styling. The chassis includes a fully adjustable Ohlins rear suspension setup and Brembo monobloc calipers for high-performance braking. The electronics package is shared with the RS, featuring multiple riding modes and rider aids tailored for various conditions. The bike sits on high-grip Metzeler Racetec K3 RR rubber as standard equipment.

Market Positioning and Pricing

In international markets, the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition is priced at 15,995 GBP (approximately Rs 20.22 lakh). This puts it at a premium over the standard Speed Twin 1200 RS, which is priced at 14,695 GBP (approximately Rs 18.58 lakh). Given the restricted global production of only 800 units, availability in the Indian market is expected to be highly limited or unlikely.
