Skoda Auto India has announced that its subcompact SUV, the Kylaq, has crossed the 50,000-unit sales mark. Since its introduction, the model has emerged as the brand’s primary volume driver in the domestic market, competing in the heavily contested sub-four-meter segment.
Performance and Mechanical Specifications
The Kylaq is equipped with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine that generates 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. This powertrain is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic. According to manufacturer data, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds, placing it among the quicker options in its class.
Safety Ratings and Structural Integrity
Utilizing the localized MQB-A0 IN platform, the Kylaq earned a five-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash testing. The vehicle achieved 30.88 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. The standard safety suite across the lineup includes:
- Six airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- ABS with EBD and Electronic Differential Lock
- Isofix child seat anchorages

The SUV measures 3995mm in length, 1783mm in width, and 1619mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2566mm. It offers a ground clearance of 189mm, suited for varied road conditions. In terms of storage, the Kylaq provides 446 litres of boot space, which can be increased to 1,265 litres by folding the rear bench. The model is offered in six paint finishes: Lava Blue, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Olive Gold, Candy White, and Deep Black.
Interior Features and Market Positioning
The cabin is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. Connectivity features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside a wireless charging pad. Higher trims benefit from ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and a single-pane sunroof. The Skoda Kylaq is currently positioned in the price bracket of Rs 7.59 lakh to Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
